The Cart Marking

Cart Marking 2009
The 2009 marking of carts that took place as usual at Guildhall yard in the City of London had a special significance this year as our company chairman Mr Graham Westcott had the pleasure of overseeing the proceedings in his capacity of Master of the Worshipful Company of Carmen. One of the official duties required of the Master is to mark the presented carts with a branding iron, a duty that he shares with the Lord Mayor. The Master and his wife Sue can be seen welcoming a group of Chelsea Pensioners who arrived at the ceremony as passengers aboard the family's Bedford OB Seaside bus driven by Colin Hayes father of our Commercial Director Alex Hayes, which incidentally was Sue's entry into the parade. Graham entered his latest vintage vehicle a Thames Trader recently restored at the company’s workshop and painted in the livery of Victory Transport, the company where Grahame started his career in transport.
